Germar Reed is the Senior Advisor to the Head of Global Data Analytics at General Motors (GM) and a dynamic leader with more than 17 years of experience helping C-level executives use data to devise winning strategies and level up their businesses. An institution builder and natural problem solver, he shares proficiency in strategic planning, critical thinking, project management, and data sciences. A vibrant leader adept at leading high-performance teams, he has managed projects, accounts, and cross-functional teams for multiple Fortune 500 companies.
As a Data Science & Analytics Leader at General Motors, Germar leads a team of analysts, data engineers, and data scientists to design and operationalize data monetization strategies for the company's $2B Global Connected Services Business.
Priori to joining GM, he led analytics advisory teams at Merkle Inc., a global marketing and analytics agency, as the Senior Manager of Analytics Advisory Services. In this role, he led a globally dispersed team of analysts, data engineers, and data scientists to deliver innovative marketing solutions to top tech firms in the US and Latin America, like Dell.
Besides this, Germar is also the Engagement Lead and Partner of District Analyst, LLC — A data science and analytics consultancy business. In this role, he helps clients define strategic action plans and utilize data science and analytics to advance business goals and elevate performance standards.
Previously, Germar served at AOL, iKnowtion (now ttech) and First Horizon Bank. In these roles, he provided strategic advice and consultancy to top executives and actively collaborated with Chief Financial Officers, VPs, and senior-level management. He is a natural performance enabler adept at deciphering business needs and using data to deliver data-backed strategic solutions.
In addition, Germar is passionate about mentoring aspiring data analysts and helping them master data interpretation to devise and implement innovative business strategies. He draws on expertise and experience to champion forward-looking initiatives and fosters productive relationships with teams and clients. Germar holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from East Carolina University and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Data Analytics from Wayne State University. In addition, he holds a Data Analytics and Project Management certification from Cornell University and was awarded the "40 Under 40 Leadership Award" from East Carolina University in 2018.

Before stepping into the data world, he served in the United States Marine Corps for four years and is also the recipient of the Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, & Navy Unit Commendation.
